early morning shooting in Lexington

An early morning shooting in Lexington leaves one man dead and police say his killer is still on the run.

Just before two Sunday morning police responded to the intersection of 2nd Street and Spruce Street to find 26-year old Quinn Dent lying in the road with multiple gun shot wounds.

Witnesses recall seeing a black male, wearing a mask, running from the scene after firing several shots as Dent stood outside Tee Dee's Nightclub on 2nd Street.

The Lexington native was taken to U.K. Hospital but died a short time later from his injuries.

A close childhood friend tells LEX 18 News that Dent was at Tee Dee's Nightclub Saturday evening, but could not provide any information as to why Dent was shot.

The owner of the club Tee Dee Young says the club was closed at the time of the shooting but he heard the whole thing. "So I walked down the street and I looked and saw this guy laying there and the next thing I know here come the police. They worked on him and really tried to save his life," said Young.

Police are now looking for the shooter described only as a 5 foot 9 African American male with light skin. Family members tell LEX 18 they're devastated that someone murdered Quinn Dent and hope police find his killer.

Funeral arrangements for Dent are still pending.
